High and Low Temperatures

The temperature range on the moon can swing up to 500°F. From boiling hot to extreme cold! Silicone boots were used on the first moon landing since many other materials failed to perform in these wide temperature ranges.

You can expect the SilGrip^TM NVH PSA Kit to have damping capabilities at wide temperature ranges as well; from -54°C (-65°F) to 204°C (400°F).

SilGrip NVH PSA Kit

Momentive’s SilGrip NVH PSA Kit is a fully customizable noise and vibration damping product used primarily as a contact adhesive, as well as pressure sensitive tapes and transfer films. It can be applied in minutes if used as a contact adhesive, or immediately when used as a pressure sensitive tape or transfer film. The kit allows a wide damping range over low temperatures, room temperatures and high temperatures, depending on the chosen mix ratio.

Custom Solutions

The SilGrip NVH PSA Kit can be used to create a custom solution for a constrained layer damping application. More specifically, you can identify your target Tg (glass transition temperature) and formulate a solution that dampens at the target Tg. Apart from custom formulation, the solution provides the following high-performance benefits:

Wider damping range as compared to other viscoelastic materials
Wider service temperature; from -54°C to 204°C
UV resistance, moisture resistance and permeability

A Three-Component System

The SilGrip NVH PSA solution from Momentive is fully customizable viscoelastic material that bonds and adheres to a wide variety of substrates. This high performance NVH service comes in a three-component system. By blending the systems together at different ratios, you can achieve the same wide damping temperature range you are used to with the SilGrip line, but across low temperature, room temperature and higher temperature.
