SilFort TM Hardcoats: Making New Automotive Designs and Complex Sensor Integration a Reality

October 19, 2021
9:00AM-10:00AM EDT

Solving Complex Challenges with Innovative Hardcoats

Today's automotive industry is changing rapidly towards electrification and autonomous driving. These trends will create new areas on exterior surfaces of automobiles for designers to rethink the vehicle's appearance. For example, new front-end modules could reshape the brand image for electric vehicles, which no longer need a front grille to cool the combustion engine. During the webinar, we will present solutions to use hardcoated polycarbonate panels to create high quality front-end modules with excellent optical appearance. Additionally, we will talk about the challenges of sensor integration for future mobility (specifically LiDAR) to enable the autonomous function over the lifetime of the vehicle and Momentive's approach to meet new requirements.

What You'll Learn:

  • While the current hardcoat formulations provide an industry benchmark for protecting polycarbonate for exterior parts, they have proven challenging to process in some application. We will present the latest information about the processing of thermal hardcoats in modern industrial coating lines.

  • We will be discussing Momentive's approach to adapt the spray method to increasingly demanding shapes in automotive exterior applications. You'll meet our expert advisors, and learn about our innovative product portfolio.
